Universidade Federal da Bahia

The Universidade Federal da Bahia (Federal University of Bahia or UFBA) is a public university located mainly in Salvador, state of Bahia, Brazil. It is the most important University of that state. You can study there without having to pay, as It is a public university, but you must do well on an annual exam, known as vestibular.

UFBA's exam is characterized by 2 phases:
The first one is generic, that is, evaluates your abilities at all areas of knowledge (literature, history, geography, natural sciences, foreign language and mathematic). If you have a result that is good enough, than you do the second phase exams, more especific to the course you are applying to. For example, if you aplly for medicine (the most applied) and do well on the first level, than your second level exam demands knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics and writing, as you are supposed to do a composition.
