Unity Grind
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Unity grind, more often called just a 'Unity', is a grind used in Aggressive Inline Skating with both feet. You approach the object and jump onto it with your legs crossed, each skate locked onto its h-block. Your leg that is crossed over in front must be your leading foot. If your leg that is crossed behind your other leg is your leading foot, that is an alleyoop unity, also known as a savannah. If you're facing away from the object, you are grinding backside. If you are facing towards the object you are grinding frontside.

[edit] Variants
There is only one main variation to the Unity grind, it differs in the way that you approach and spin into the grind.
[edit] Savannah
The Savannah differs from the Unity in the way your legs are crossed in the grind. Below are descriptions on how to do a 'Savannah' grind.
[edit] A Backside Savannah
You approach the object with it on your left hand side, you jump to land in the grind, and spin CW. You spin 90 degrees CW and land with your legs crossed. Your legs must be crossed in such a way that the left leg is crossed infront of the right leg (if you were looking down at your feet then that is the way your legs should be crossed). It could be easier to picture the grind as a truespin alley oop acid, but the foot doing the makio position is placed in the h-block.
The description above is just one way of doing a Savannah, the grind can be done coming from the other direction to the object, using opposite feet.

[edit] A Frontside Savannah
Approach the object with it on your right hand side and jump as if you were going to do an alley oop topside acid soul, spinning about 90 degrees CW and landing with your feet crossed. Your left leg should be crossed infront of your right leg.
The nature of the Savannah makes it much harder than a Unity grind.
