The U.S. gubernatorial elections of 2007, of which there are three, will be held in November 2007. All three incumbents, Ernie Fletcher (R-Kentucky), Kathleen Blanco (D-Louisiana) and Haley Barbour (R-Mississippi), have announced that they will seek re-election. Of these three, Barbour is the most popular, with a 59% approval rating. Both Fletcher and Blanco are unpopular; in Kentucky Fletcher's governorship has been embroiled in scandal while in Louisiana Blanco has taken the flak for the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the federal government's ill-preparedness to deal with casualties, and 63% of Louisianans disapprove of her.

Barbour is likely to be challenged by former governor Ray Mabus and possibly by former Attorney General Mike Moore. Fletcher could be challenged Attorney General Greg Stumbo. In Louisiana, Blanco's 2003 opponent Bobby Jindal, now a congressman from a district near New Orleans, is considering another run against her.[1]
