United States Barista Championship

The United States Barista Championship or USBC, is a the final round of barista competitions in the United States. Competitors prepare and serve 12 coffee beverages - four espressos, four cappuccinos, and four signature drinks to four sensory judges. Competitors are judged on scoresheets of technical and sensory marks. Judges undergo a certification process before the competition.
There are three rounds of judging at the USBC: the preliminary round, the semi-finals with 25 competitors (regional winners are automatically placed in the semi-finals) and the finals with 6 competitors.
The winner represents the United States in the World Barista Championship.

Prior to 2003, the competition was known as the North American Barista Competition. Dismas Smith was the 2002 NABC champion.
