United Planet, known as UP, is an American non-profit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts. The organization aims to enhance cross-cultural and geographical understanding in order to promote peace, friendship, and economic prosperity among cultures, using the Internet and community-based programs. United Planet is made up primarily of members and volunteers who use the Internet to communicate and promote cross-cultural understanding. The organization relies on volunteers for its activities, which include orphan care, education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and housing for the poor, under the supervision of its founder and a board. - Cultural Awareness Project and UP Storytelling provide cross-cultural presentations and storytelling for schools and communities.
- Voices of Earth Cultural Exchange combines country summaries drawn from the CIA World Factbook with an online forum for travel and cultural tips.
- United Planet Quests provide volunteer opportunities in the form of one- to 52-week educational, humanitarian, and peace-building projects. Volunteers are expected to pay, either personally or through fundraising, fees that cover the cost of their participation.
- UP Ambassador Clubs enable high school and college students to charter UP Ambassador Clubs at their schools to carry out and promote UP's mission and programs at their schools.
- UP Special Projects provide volunteers and funding to develop educational, humanitarian, and peace-building projects.
