United Petroleum Pty Ltd (commonly known as United) is an independent Australian owned oil company. In 1993 some service stations/convenience stores opperated under the brand name United in South Australia, in 1997 operations were expanded into Victoria which became very successful and between 1997 and 2000, networks were built in Queensland, ACT and New South Wales. In 2006 United took over 13 Mobil Petrol Outlets in Tasmania, as well as taking over mobile petrol outlets in Western Australia in December 2006. Today United opperates in every state in Australia and is engaged in petroleum retailing, wholesaling of motor fuels, LPG wholesaling and distribution of motor fuels. In June 2005 United Petroleum became the first oil company in Australia to offer ethanol in fuel, the ethanol is entirely produced by the Australian agricultural industry. The company is noted for its attitude towards Australian made and owned products and concepts.

All fuels offered by United Petroleum are enhanced with ethanol supplied by CSR Limited. The fuels are widely marketed as being enhanced with 10% ethanol grown in Australia, and other products are boasted to be wholly Australian made and owned.

  • Plus ULP - A 95 octane fuel enhanced with 10% ethanol, marketed as the standard unleaded petrol.
  • Boost 98 - A 98 octane fuel enhanced with 10% ethanol, marketed as a high performance fuel.
  • United Gas - Liquified Petroleum Gas.
  • Lubricants - United banded automotive lubricants.

United is widely regaurded as the forerunner of renewable fuels in Australia, being the first to provide enthanol enhanced fuel in the country. The ethanol used in United Petroleum products is entirely supplied by CSR Limited who produce pure ethanol through fermentation of sugar cane grown in Australia, in particular Queensland.
