The United African National Council was a party led by Abel Muzorewa, which during the short-lived period of the Internal Settlement of 1979 (when Rhodesia changed into Zimbabwe Rhodesia), held formal power. However, political power remained in the hands of the white minority who controlled the armed forces, the civil service, and the judiciary.
