United Abominations (2007) |
United Abominations is the title of the 11th studio album from the American thrash metal band, Megadeth. The album is currently scheduled to be released on March 20, 2007. The album art features a new incarnation of Vic Rattlehead chosen from a deviantart contest, the entry which finished in 11th place.
The album title is a play on United Nations and the album cover features the United Nations building being destroyed. It is possible to see the album cover as a reference to the Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? cover, which depicts the United Nations building after a nuclear war.
The album was scheduled for release on October 31, 2006. In August 2006, frontman Dave Mustaine recently told Billboard.com that the album has been pushed back to early 2007. "We're putting the finishing touches on it," Mustaine told Billboard.com. "We've got a little more work before it's finished, but it should be out some time next year." [1] It was later confirmed for March 20, 2007.

The lyrics to United Abominations are available at several Megadeth related sites. They were originally posted at the Official Megadeth Forums as part of a competition. [1]
[edit] Washington is Next
Megadeth has included Washington is Next in their Gigantour 2006 setlist. The lyrics to Washington is Next are also available at several Megadeth related sites. Like United Abominations, they were originally posted at the Official Megadeth Forums.
[edit] Gears of War
Gears of War is also a title of an Xbox 360 game. It is unclear if the song will be included as the title song of the game, but Mustaine has announced that Megadeth will make an appearance at a "party for Gears of War in Boston for Halloween." On November 22, 2006, a demo of this song was posted on Megadeth's website [2], along with the confirmed lyrics. [3]
[edit] Out on the Tiles
United Abominations will also include a cover of Led Zeppelin's Out on the Tiles. [4] It is unclear whether this will be the Japanese bonus track, or on the regular version of the album.
