None of this page makes any sense. Have the authors of this "encyclopedia" ever even heard of the federation or star fleet? The Federation was founded in 2161, Starfleet was established the same year, the Romulan wars happened before that 2156-2160 when it was ended with the battle of Cheron followed by the signing of the treaty of Algeron which established the Romulan Neutral Zone the same year. First contact with the Klingon empire came during 2218... (Unless you watch Enterprise, in which case first contact was around 2151, coinciding with the launch of the first warp 5 ship, the starship Enterprise). There is so much wrong, I don't have time to go into it all so if you want info on the United Federation of Planets, don't get it here...
[edit] Star Fleet Universe not Star Trek Canon
Please read up on the Star Fleet Universe before blasting articles about it. It was created in the years between the original series and the first movie and does not use any of the history from the first movie forward. Perhaps that should have been said in the first place. I know a lot about Star Trek and have never heard of whatever you're talking about. I still don't know what your idea of Star Fleet Universe is, a book series, comic books perhaps, fan fiction scripts? If you try to "read up on the Star Fleet Universe" as you suggested you find information about the universe in which Star Fleet exists IE: the T.V. shows/Movies. Also, when I typed in "United Federation of Planets" (looking for "canon") I was shown this page with no mention that it wasn't "canon".
- Did you click on the Star Fleet Universe link above? It tells you straight up that is a variant universe based on the game Star Fleet Battles table top game first designed in the late 70's and has been in active publication since. As for why this page came up when you typed in United Federation of Planets, I don't know, for when I tried it myself, I got the canon article. I admit, I should have put the disclaimer at the begining of the article earlier, but what is done is done. If you want more information about Star Fleet battles here is their website.
