[edit] Social democratic?

The Preamble of the UFP politic platform, Building a world that reflects our ideals! on the party's website [1] doesn't say so. Instead, it uses the term "progressive" throughout, and makes no reference to socialism or social democracy. Progressive is a pretty vague term, so I've tried to clarify that the UFP is intended to be a borad front organizatinn across the left of the political spectrum. Also, the party's website uses the term "alterglobalist" rather than "altermondialist", but I don't want to go near that one. Kevintoronto 16:52, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)

To the anonymous editor who keeps putting "social democratic" in as the ideology. Please read the website. You will see that it is a "broad front" type of organization that includes the groups that I've listed in the article. It includes social democrats, as well as socialists, communists, and others from the left. it calls itself "progressive" and not "social democratic". Unless you can provide evidence that the UFP calls itself "social democratic", stop making changes that you cannot back up. Thank you. Kevintoronto 14:02, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Also, given that the UFP includes the Parti communiste du Quebec, why would you remove "communists" from the list of left-wingers included in the party? Kevintoronto 17:17, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The UFP also advocates pacifist[2] I did my reasearch - michaelm

I heartily agree. UFP are not social democratic (the PQ, if anybody, occupy that position on the political spectrum). To counter, we have already a Category:Socialist parties that includes the Scottish Socialist Party, the Sosialistisk Folkeparti, and the Welsh Socialist Alliance (among many others) – such parties seem more clearly the ideological kindred of the UFP. I'm therefore changing the category to Category:Socialist parties. QuartierLatin1968 19:14, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
