[edit] Trade union or federation?

Is UGT a trade union, like the lead of the article currently states, or is it actually a federation of more or less independent regional and/or sectoral trade unions? The list of "Federations and Foundations" seems to imply the latter. Or is it a termionlogy for a sectoral organisation within a singular organisation? / Alarm 13:48, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

It is a trade union, but its structure its federal in two senses: There are territorial and sectorial federation. The former correspond to the Spanish autonomous communities so that you can hear about the Asturian, Basque, Catalan federation and so on; and the latter refers to the different industries. The reason why this works this way is because the needs and problems for every sector in the economy seem to be quite different --alfanje 11:09, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
