Image talk:United Federation of Planets flag.png

This isn't the flag of the Federation-- Only on the technicality that the blue is to light, and there isn't "UNITED FEDERATION OF PLANETS" written along the bottom. See cover of this book [1]. - A.J. 06:49, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Books aren't considered to be canon. Are there any other images of the flag -- preferably canon? --hello,gadren 00:33, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Ooooh! An admin at Memory Alpha got told what is and isn't canon in Trek! Ouch! ;) Seriously, though, the image on the book is the real – canon – design, even though the book itself isn't. --From Andoria with Love 09:45, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
'Tis the truth, that flag on the book is the canon flag. --OuroborosCobra 09:46, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
And for canon images, someone at "Ex Astris Scientia" did a good job of researching a bunch of images of the insignia (several of which including the flag) Emblem Article and this is one of the better images I think that argues my case. - A.J. 22:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] UN?

Does anyone other than me think that a reference should be made to how similar this is to the Flag of the UN (and may therefore be based upon it)?

Is based on it; a conscious effort was made to base it off the flag of the UN. - A.J. 23:48, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
