The United Methodist Church in the State of Ohio (since 1964) is divided into two Episcopal Areas: Ohio East and Ohio West. Before 1964 in The Methodist Church the entire State was contained in one Area: the Ohio Area. The former name of this Area was the Cincinnati Episcopal Area. In the E.U.B. Church Ohio was part of a larger area for episcopal supervision, including several Midwestern States.
