Unholy Alliance

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Unholy Alliance is a common denigrating epithet applied to coalitions formed between generally antagonistic groups united behind a single policy or slogan; the usage is cliche and is formed after the original Holy Alliance.

[edit] Examples

  • U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt used the term at least once between 1906 and 1912 when he stated "To destroy this invisible government, to dissolve the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day."
  • The Unholy Alliance was the name given to thrash metal group Slayer's 2006 tour around the world with Lamb Of God, Children Of Bodom, Thine Eyes Bleed & In Flames(in Europe and Mastodon in the USA.) The same name was also used for a previous tour by Slayer and Slipknot.
