Underwater swimming was a swimming competition held at the second modern Olympic Games in Paris in 1900. The competition was held over a maximum of 60 m. Points were awarded as follows:
- Two points for every metre swum under water
- One point for every second the swimmer stayed below the surface
The winner was Charles DeVandeville (France), who swam 60 meters in a time of 1 minute and 8.4 seconds (score: 188.4 pts). In second and third places were André Six (France) and Peter Lykkeberg (Denmark).
This was the first and only time underwater swimming was held at the Olympic Games. The sport was not featured at subsequent games because of lack of spectator appeal.
