Uncle Oswald

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Uncle Oswald is a literary character, born in 1895, created by Roald Dahl, who features in the short stories The Visitor and Bitch and the novel My Uncle Oswald.

As a character he is a successful womanizer, whose motto is never to sleep with the same woman twice. His full name is Oswald Hendryks Cornelius. He is a connoisseur of wine, a bon vivant, a collector of spiders, scorpions and walking-sticks, a lover of opera, an expert on Chinese porcelain, and described as the greatest fornicator of all time. He is also wealthy, apparently as a result of schemes which would in many circles be considered to be somewhat immoral, if not illegal. The two short stories and novel revolve around these themes.
