This article is about a Lion King character. There is also a CITV series called Uncle Max starring David Schneider.

Uncle Max is a meerkat character in Disney's fictional The Lion King universe, first introduced in the 2004 direct-to-video animated film The Lion King 1½. He is the brother of Ma and uncle of Timon. In The Lion King 1½, Uncle Max was voiced by Jerry Stiller.

Uncle Max is apparently the leader of the mob that he, Timon and Ma are part of and he's obviously had enough of Timon's bumbling, going as far as stating with glee, "There's no sign of Timon's handiwork anywhere!" When Ma suggests that Timon become a sentry, Uncle Max clearly displays his horror at the thought, but he quickly agreed to prepare Timon for the job when Ma reminded him that the other option was having Timon continue working in the tunnels. Uncle Max was not alone on this decision, though, because as he hollered "No!", the rest of the mob simultaneously shouted the same thing. Despite his training, things go horribly wrong when Timon fails to spot out the hyenas in time, almost killing Uncle Max (He was never in any danger however; the hyenas only terrorized the meek meerkats for a good laugh).

Afterwards, Timon tried to get everyone to forgive him, but Uncle Max is deeply disappointed in his nephew's carelessness and leaves with the rest of the mob.

Uncle Max doesn't have as big of a role for most of the remainder of the film as he does in the beginning and the end. In fact, when Ma is talking to Rafiki, she hollers down into a hole that she's going to find Timon, who in her mind is chasing after metaphors. He then shouts out his only line in the scene "ARE YOU NUTS?!?!?"

Uncle Max and Ma, who have been searching for Timon ever since, finally reunite with their younger relative as Scar reveals to Simba the truth about Mufasa's death (It should be noted that Timon, Pumbaa, Ma and Uncle Max are simply watching from the distance). Once Timon and Pumbaa realize their friend needs them, Timon hatches a plan to get rid of the hyenas, thus enabling Simba to reach Scar unchallenged. While Timon and Pumbaa were distracting the hyenas, Ma and Uncle Max were underneath them digging a tunnel to get rid of the "slobbering, mangy stupid poachers". When the tunnel is complete, Uncle Max kicks the sticks that were holding the tunnel up, but one stick gets stuck. Ma and Uncle Max come up to get Timon and Pumbaa to help them, but the hyenas corner them before they can reach the hole. However, Timon, in a moment of bravery, leaps into the tunnel and knocks the tunnel down just as the hyenas leap towards the defenseless meerkats and warthog. Afterwards, at Timon and Pumbaa's tropical paradise, Uncle Max is seen leading a Yoga lesson. Uncle Max is one of the Lion King characters to join Timon and Pumbaa for a repeat of The Lion King 1 1/2, bringing popcorn "with extra butter!"
