While the 2002 chart-topper I Giorni was conceived around the inspiration originated from some exotic African legend, the 2004 album Una Mattina is more of a bourgeois family flavor, though not necessarily the homeyness a cup of freshly-brewed coffee could bring in a cozy warm morning – just as shown on the CD cover.
Although not being able to outdo the phenomenal successes of his previous solo piano albums, this collection of restful and slightly melancholic music sketches still manages to maintain Einaudi’s highly-recognizable personal style. Without proactively endeavoring to express gushy feelings, this composer is particularly good at bringing out the physical beauty of music itself and creating a sense of introspective balance for his audience, which, combined with the accessibility of this music, partially explains his immense popularity in the fast-paced modern world.
