[edit] Background
Ultrasone was founded in 1991 with a goal to build an innovative high-class brand image for sophisticated customers and professional markets. Inventing numerous developments, the company applied for more than 60 patents. Ultrasone specializes in making headphones that provide natural surround sound, and since 1999 has made headphones that help reduce the risk of hearing damage through use of more sensitive transducers that provide loud enough sound at lower volume levels and through usage of MU-shielded earcups, lower electromagnetic emissions for fatigue-free headphone wearing.
Ultrasone underwent reorganization in 2000 which included a new corporate design, new products, and Ultrasone's proprietary S-Logic natural surround system—an Ultrasone-owned technology that utilizes lower sound pressure levels to create similar volume perception at lower volume levels (for reduction in hearing damage risks) but also provides natural surround sound that deploys decentralized drivers so that sound starts from outside of the ear and ends deep into the ear canal for truer life-like sound and utilization in all audio applications.
Today, all Ultrasone headphones come with Ultrasone's S-Logic natural surround system, and also come with either Ultrasone's LE or ULE reduced electromagnetic emission headphone structure.
Ultrasone claim to be the only headphone company to take the common issues of hearing damage and head fatigue very seriously with their "health-conscious" technologies. Certain headphones, when worn over a very long period of time, may cause fatigue due to exposure of electromagnetic emissions, something Ultrasone focussed on.
