[edit] Features
The game features a unique battle system with special attacks and various jutsu that can be used. It also features several items, like kunai and shuriken. There are many multi-layered stages from around the Naruto world, including the Hidden Sand Village, the Chūnin exam arena, and the Forest of Death. In the original Japanese version there were only 12 characters however, NamcoBandai has added the ability to select both Cursed Seal Level 1 Sasuke and Demon Fox Naruto transformations as bonus characters. Although both of these characters were already in the Japanese version as transformations, NamcoBandai has separated them into separate characters. Due to this, both Naruto and Sasuke have lost their ability to transform into their advanced modes during battle. This is much like Naruto: Narutimate Hero 3 transformation system. The game also features an arcade style story mode. The Story Mode consists of up to 7 battles divided by some dialogue in a comic book style display, a homage to its source material (the Naruto manga).
[edit] Additional Information
The game is a mix of Super Smash Brothers Playing style and the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Series; like the Budokai games, this game has special moves also known as "Ougi"(Death Move) When you activate these moves, it goes to a cutscene/minigame type of play where you have to input the buttons on the screen faster than your opponent to minimize or maximize damage. Each character has 3 ougi except for Curse Marked Sasuke and Demon Fox Naruto who only have 1. Each character also has one or two support characters that aid them by giving them items in battle.
- Naruto Uzumaki- support character: Iruka Umino (Scream)
- Sakura Haruno- support character: Sasuke Uchiha (Flaming kunai throw) or Kakashi Hatake (Kunai combo)
- Sasuke Uchiha - support character: Kakashi Hatake (Kunai combo) or Naruto Uzumaki (Uzumaki Barrage)
- Kakashi Hatake - support character: Might Guy (Dynamic entry) or Iruka Umino (Scream)
- Shikamaru Nara - support character: Asuma Sarutobi (Trench knives combo)
- Rock Lee - support character: Might Guy (Dynamic entry)

- Zabuza Momochi - support character: Haku (Senbon combo)
- Gaara - support character: Temari (Wind Scythe Jutsu)
- Orochimaru - support character: Kabuto Yakushi (Temple of Nirvana Technique)

[edit] Special States
By completing a certain super, you can gain special effects (as indictated by an aura once back in normal combat) However, effects like the Curse Seal and Lee's Gates will drain the character's life and leave them without chakra after the effect has worn off. Meanwhile, the Sharingan gives Kakashi and Sasuke the ability to use the opponent's combos and jutus (excluding Ougi). NamcoBandai has added the ability to select both Cursed Seal Level 1 Sasuke and Nine Tails Chakra Naruto transformations as starting characters in the North American version. Because of this, the player cannot transform into these advanced modes during normal combat in the North American version.
- Demon Fox Chakra (Naruto): Doubles Speed and Power, cannot use support items, has Naruto's Support Characters.
- Cursed Seal Lv1 (Sasuke): Double Speed and Power, health drops slowly, has Sasuke's support characters.
- (Both the above are separate characters in the NA version)
- Sharingan (Sasuke & Kakashi): Gain your opponent's moveset for about 20 seconds.
- Byakugan (Neji & Hinata): Any hit lowers opponent's chakra even when guarding and chakra recovers faster.
- The Five Inner Gates (Lee): Doubles speed and power, health gradually decreases.
