Ulster Senior Football Championship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ulster Senior Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bank of Ireland Ulster Championship) is the premier "knockout" competition in the game of football played in the province of Ulster in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Ulster Council and are played during the summer months. The Ulster football Final is played in July normally in St. Tiernach's Park, although recent finals have been staged in Croke Park in Dublin due to its greater capacity.
Cavan are the most successful, having won the championship on 39 occasions.
The Ulster Football Championship is run on a knock-out basis in which once a team loses they are eliminated from the competition. All of the counties of Ulster participate in the championship.
