"To reduce server load, a limit of 30,000 registered users is imposed, with unused accounts being dropped after 42 days of inactivity to make way for new users."
Is this still true? When I go to their web page and click on sign up, it says that the site isn't open to the public. Do they ever make accounts available any more?
Yes. I know several people who have successfully registered recently. The "This site isn't open to the public" message is just what you see if there are no vacancies for new members. You just have to keep trying.
[edit] April Fool's Day 2006
The site appears to have been shut down by the BBC and MPAA today but this is just an april fools joke! Navigate to one of the sub-pages and the site will function as normal. :D

- It'd be interesting to see what effect this prank had on the tracker's traffic. I've heard tell of a number of fooled users deleting their .torrents, and can imagine some may even have removed content from their hard-drives too. =D If anyone gets figures, as a percentage drop or something, it might be worth working them into the article. ◄ИΞШSΜΛЯΞ► 10:52, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
