UK Resistance
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
UK Resistance is a video games blog site founded in 1996 to offer a UK perspective on the then-US-dominated internet video game news scene. It quickly developed a style depending more on satirical and fictional updates rather than its original UK news and reviews content.
Originally a Sega-only site, UK:R now targets and lampoons all console formats - particularly Sony's PlayStation3, which is regularly criticised in its PS3 Lie Watch series. One of the most consistently updated and amusing UK internet sites, UK:Resistance is hugely influential among today's video game developers, journalists and gamers, thanks to its aggressive but honest drive to tell the truth about the games industry.
Running themes include an obsession with Sega musician and composer Richard Jacques, highlighting the poor nature of many YouTube video game shows and reminiscing about Sega memorabilia.
In 2006, the site managed to get controversial action game 50 Cent: Bulletproof nominated for a Golden Joystick award in the Girl's Choice category, thanks to an update appealing for its readers to vote for the game in every category. 50 Cent was eventually nominated for an award in five categories.
