[edit] Contestants (in order of elimination)
Tracey Barcoe (Red Team)
A 28 year old Marketing Assistant from Chesire. Aiming to lose weight to find the right guy. She struggled to give up smoking in the first week and as a result asked her team mates to eliminate her when they lost the first weigh in. She only lost 4 lb in the first weigh in but went on to lose 2 stone 2 lb (13.3%, a percent made from the total fat loss percent and total weight loss percent added together) by the reunion. Tracey was brimming with confidence & said she had gained so much more from the show than just losing the weight.
Katie Wareing (Blue Team)
A 30 year old Recruitment Consultant from Preston wants to lose weight to feel more confident in herself. In two weeks she lost 15 lb but a feud between her and her team mate Nat split the vote when they lost the weigh in in week two. This gave the red team control of the vote who picked Katie as she was seen as a threat in challenges and weigh ins. At the reunion show she had lost a total of 2 stone 12 lb (28.5% combined total)
Paul Tabram (Red Team)
A Travel Agent from Cardiff, Paul made a bad start in the 1st week when he tried to change peoples votes and attempted to make a deal with his team mate, Mark to vote together to win the prize money. He was a strong team player & was good in challenges but by week 3 he had lost 1 stone 1 pound but after a dismal weigh in for both teams the red team lost and Paul was given the boot in a very heated elimination. He returned to the Reunion 3 stone and 5 lb lighter (23.5% combined total)
Tamara Joseph (Red Team)
A loudmouthed fashion assistant from Birmingham. Although loved by her team, who called her Princess Tamara, she was eliminated after the red team again lost the weigh in in week 4. They felt she had underperformed and somebody had to go in the weekly challenge and she also wasn't a "Big Loser", having lost 15 lb by week 4. Her total weight lost at the reunion was 2 stone 9 lb (19.5% combined total).
Dr Shane Lee (Blue Team/Red Team)
Shane is a lecturer from Cardiff and the oldest in the show (40). He was a blue team member until week 5, when the teams were uneven. After winning the weekly challenge, the blues had to pick one member to go over to the other team. They chose to give away Shane, their biggest loser to date, who had lost 2 stone 5 lb - partly because they thought he had been over indulging that week ! At the weigh in, the Reds lost again after Shane failed to lose any weight - proving the blues correct. At the elimination the decision was clear, Shane was chosen to leave. He did not return for the reunion despite being a favourite amongst viewers for his quirky looks and personality.
Martin Langmaid (Blue Team)
A 26 year old IT Engineer from Exeter, Martin was a strong competitor throughout the show. He was the lightest male but lost large amounts of weight (exception in week 3 when he put on 1 lb!)but also strong in challenges. He was eliminated in week 6 by the blue team when they lost the weigh in but returned in week 8 to replace another contestant when he had to leave the show due to illness. This gave Martin a second chance at being the Biggest Loser, but was unanimously voted out the following week as the other contestants felt his return was unfair. Up to week 9 he had lost 3 stone 2 lb. He returned, AGAIN, in week 10 for a weigh in for someone to return to the house but wasn't selected as he already had a 2nd chance. By the Reunion he had lost a total of 4 stone 8 lb (43.7% combined total, putting him in 2nd place for the runners up prize)
Nat Curtis (Blue Team)
A 31 year IT Manager from Reading. Nat was known for her emotional outbursts and it was often felt by her team that she wasn't pushing herself. In week 7 the teams were dissolved and the remaining 6 contestants played for themselves. Despite losing the greatest % out of the females, she was below the yellow line as Nadine (who was currently bottom of the table) won immunity in a gruelling bike challenge pushing Nat below the yellow line and ultimately out of the competition. She had lost 1 stone 11 lb (or 11.3%) on elimination. In week 10 all the contestants who had been evicted returned to the house to be weighed with the chance of coming back to the house. The Top 3 Martin, Nat and Barney (who left the show in week 8), the final 3 had to pick 1 of those 3 to return and Nat was chosen, possibly as she was much less of a threat to the remaining contestants over the other 2 guys. This gave her immunity and she was in the Final 3, giving her a shot at the £25,000 prize. She returned to the final a shadow of her former self, brimming with confidence. She had lost 4 stone 4 lb (a combined total of 42%) placing her 3rd.
Barney Gibson (Red Team)
The youngest contestant at 19, Barney is a Music Management Student from Devon. He had very low confidence but came out of his shell with the help of his Trainer Angie and teammates. He was a strong competitor in challenges and lost consistent amounts of weight. In week 8 he was taken to hospital with suspected appendicitis and after an emotional goodbye, left the house as he was unfit to carry on. He was replaced with Martin. By week 8 he had lost 2 stone 10 lb (12.9% of his starting weight) and was 3rd in the table. In week 10 he returned for the weigh in for a chance to re-enter the house (viewers were left to assume he was now fit). He had the 2nd highest percentage on return in week 10 (15.9%)but wasn't selected to return by the remaining contestants. At the Reunion Barney returned having a very noticeable lost 6 stone (a combined total 46.7%), this made him the biggest loser out of the eliminated contestants, winning him a Luxury all expenses paid holiday to the Maldives.
Nadine Lautman (Red Team)
A 33 year housewife with 4 children from West Yorkshire. She was known for her steely determination and a strong minded women. In week 7 when she faced elimination (as she had the lowest %) she pushed herself to win the weekly challenge by cycling nearly 100 miles in 4 hours to beat the others. Not only did it help her stay in the house, she also won time with her family. Although Barney had already left the house in week 8, an elimination still took place and Nadine was chosen to go home. She said she felt ready to leave and had already lost 10.8% of her original body weight (or 1 stone 11 lb) despite weeks when she lost no weight, and 1 week when she gained weight. She returned to the reunion 3 stone 12 lb lighter than she started and had a combined percent of 35.8%.
Samantha (Sam) Atkins (Blue Team)
Sam is a married 33 year old Holistic Therapist from London. Her weight loss mantra was to lose enough weight so that she can conceive a baby. She often was made to sit out of challenges due to injury but did lose big amounts of weight & finally won a challenge in week 8 to secure immunity for herself in the running race. She was eliminated in week 9 in a dramatic twist when Nat was bought back for the final week & Sam asked to leave to allow Aaron to stay. She had lost 15.2% of her body weight, had been below the yellow line twice. Her dress size has gone from a 32 to a 20 since leaving the show & she is much more likely to conceive !
At the reunion Sam had lost 6 stone and 3 lb and had a combined loss percent of 37%.
Mark Whittaker (Red Team)
Mark is a photographer from Manchester. He made it through to the final 3 after being the biggest loser on the Red Team nearly every week. He had a strong lead right up the last couple of weeks but Aarons dramatic weight losses in the last few weeks meant they left the house neck and neck. Mark was known for being a real good positive guy. When he had the chance to vote out his biggest competition, Aaron, he didn't. Up to the final week he had lost 5 stone 8 lb. 23.8% of his starting weight lost in just 10 weeks. He returned to the final looking fantastic having lost a total of 8 stone 9 lb (120 lb) with a total combined percent of 57.2%, narrowly missing out on the £25,000 prize money.
Aaron Howlett WINNER (Blue Team)
Aarron is a 29 year old Bookmakers Manager from Hull. He was a very competitive contestant but also very funny. Once the teams dissolved Aaron really pushed himself so he would win the competition. He was sometimes a bit crafty, like when Martin had kept him in one week, but the following week he chose Martin and when Mark saved him he said he wouldn't have done the same. He left having lost 23.6% of his body weight, just 0.2% behind Mark! At the final he was almost unrecognisable having lost 9 stone 12 lb with a combined percentage of 59.9% making him the UK's Biggest Loser. He won £25,000 and deserted his friends in search of television fame.
The total weight lost between all the contestants was 762 lb or nearly 55 stone.
