UFC 62: Liddell vs. Sobral was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on August 26, 2006. The event took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and was broadcast live on pay-per-view in the United States and Canada.
The main event title fight between Chuck Liddell and Renato "Babalu" Sobral was given heightened importance as a potential superfight set in November between Liddell and PRIDE Middleweight Champion Wanderlei Silva hinged on a Liddell victory at UFC 62.

[edit] Miscellanea
- A lightweight title fight between Sean Sherk and Kenny Florian was planned to take place at the event; however, Florian confirmed that he had turned down the offer – wishing, instead, to accept the fight on a later date. [7] That fight occurred on UFC 64 instead.
- The disclosed fighter payroll for UFC 62 was $407,000.[8] The live gate for the event, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, was $3,040,880.[9]
- Although Renato Sobral only pocketed a purse of $21,000 according to disclosed figures released to the NSAC, he was given a bonus check from the Fertittas, owners of UFC, at the ambulance that later took him to the hospital that night, according to CNNMoney.com. Although its not known how much that check was for, Sobral appeared quite appreciative and was told by the Fertittas that they "were going to see" him again.[10]
