The 1996-97 season of the UEFA Champions League football club tournament was won by Borussia Dortmund in a surprise final victory against defending champions Juventus. It was their only title in the tournament to date. The two sides had also met in the final of the UEFA Cup in 1992-93, when Juventus were 3-1 victors.
