U.S. Route 299 was an east-west highway traversing northern California, USA. It ran from U.S. Route 101 in Arcata, adjacent to the Pacific coast, to Alturas by way of Redding. In Redding, it intersected U.S. Route 99 (now California State Route 273). East of Redding, it intersected California State Route 89 and a section was co-signed with California State Route 139 before reaching Alturas, where it terminated at the junction with U.S. Route 395. US 299 was commissioned in 1934 or 1935, and decommissioned in 1964, when it was replaced with California State Route 299. However, California State Route 299 continues east of Alturas to the Nevada state line east of Cedarville.
