Tysvær is a municipality in the county of Rogaland, Norway located at the northern side of Boknafjord, east of Karmøy.
The norwegian emigration to USA was initiated by the local Cleng Peerson. Also, the painter Lars Hertervig was born in Tysvær.
Tysvær has a population of 9 349 (2006) and an area of 419 sq mk.
Local administration is located at Aksdal. Tysvær has a number of scenic walks including Heggelifjellet and Kvinnesland who originated the name Kvindesland.
Aksdalsvatnet is a lake in this municpality.
