Type XI U-boat

The type XI U-Boat was a unlaunched submarine gun cruiser starting with U-112 to about U-117. There is no confirmed record of their launch. An interesting postscript to the story is that an unidentified sub with very large guns was found off the Massachusetts coast. The sub is now known as CA-35 after the Kriegsmarine Grid it was found in. There have been many suspicions that one of the Type XI boats, U-112 was launched, and did go on a clandestine mission.
