Tyne Bridge is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.

Following a review of parliamentary representation in Tyne and Wear, the Boundary Commission for England has abolished the Tyne Bridge constituency. It will not be fought at the next UK general election in 2009 or 2010.

[edit] Boundaries

The constituency covers central Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, with part of the constituency being north of the River Tyne in Newcastle, and the other part being south of the river, in Gateshead. It is named for the Tyne Bridge that crosses the river. Consisting of some of the UK's most deprived areas, this has been safely Labour since its creation in 1983.

Following boundary reviews, Tyne Bridge is to be abolished and will not be fought at the next election.
