Andrew Tyler Hansbrough (born November 3, 1985 in Columbia, Missouri) is a power forward for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill men's basketball team. In high school he helped his team, the Poplar Bluff Mules, to back to back Missouri state championships in the MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) Class 5 for the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons. His team went to the state tournament each of his three years in high school, and he was named to the All-State team twice. Hansbrough averaged 28.2 points and 13.4 rebounds a game as a high school senior.
The highly recruited Hansbrough turned down scholarship offers from Duke, Kansas and Kentucky to attend UNC.
UNC lists Hansbrough as standing 6'9" and weighing 245 pounds. Nicknamed "Psycho T" by his teammates, UNC fans know Hansbrough for his aggressive and enthusiastic play.
On February 15, 2006 Hansbrough scored 40 points in a game against Georgia Tech. This performance gave him records for most points in a game by an ACC freshman and most points in a game at the Dean Smith Center.
On March 7, 2006 Hansbrough was named the unanimous ACC Freshman of the year by earning all 108 total votes. Hansbrough also finished second to Duke's JJ Redick in ACC Player of the Year voting.
