Two Tree Island

Two Tree Island lies north east of Canvey Island and south west of Leigh-on-Sea in Essex, England. It is connected to the mainland at Leigh by a bridge.
The island was reclaimed from the Thames Estuary in the eighteenth century and used as pasture until 1910 when a sewage works was built on it. From 1936, it was used as a landfill site, the eastern half is a nature reserve, run by Essex Wildlife Trust, and the western half a country park popular with birdwatchers. At the western end is a bird hide overlooking a scrape.
During World War 2 a V-2 rocket landed just outside the sea wall of Two Tree Island.
