Twitches is a 2005 Disney Channel Original Movie, and is based on the first book in the popular T*Witches series published by Scholastic Press. Produced by Broomsticks Productions Limited, the film stars Tia and Tamera Mowry from Sister, Sister fame as, respectively, Alexandra Fielding and Camryn Barnes.

Two magical twin sisters are separated at birth, by their protectors Karsh and Ileana, during a terrible war in their homeland of Coventry. Camryn grows up in a high-class family. She wears a sun amulet, and is up as soon as the sun rises. She likes to draw pictures of Coventry and their birth mother, Miranda. Whilst, Alex grew up in a middle-class home with a single mother (who died recently). She wears a moon amulet and is up until the moon sets.

On their 21st birthday, October 31, Camryn and her friend Beth go shopping, while Alex goes looking for a job. At a fashion store, the two sisters meet for the first time. Alex goes running from the store, and Camryn goes after her. When she takes her hand in hers, their magic is released. They bond as sisters, trying to understand what's happened to them, and get to know about each others' lifestyles, along with casting a few spells. They come up the name Twitches. This is when they meet Karsh and Ileana, who tell the story of Coventry, which Alex has been writing in her journal, thinking it was only a story she created. Alex doesn't want to take any part in restoring Coventry's light, and leaves, with Camryn.

While at Alex's apartment, the 'Darkness', arrives. The sisters use their magic and nearly escape. Camryn is now freaked out, and doesn't want to have any part of their destiny. She leaves for her birthday party on Earth. Alex feels as though she was abandoned, and goes to Coventry on her own. She meets her mother and Thantos, her uncle and stepfather.

While at Camryn's party, the Darkness once again attacks. She realizes who the Darkness is, and goes to her sister and mother. She makes it there, just as Thantos arrives. He is the Darkness and swallows their mother. Alex and Camryn combine their magic of light and love to destroy Thantos. They restore Coventry's light, and returns to Camryn's home, along with their mother to have cake. The movie ends with the sisters saying, "Go Twitches, It's Our Birthday!"

The magic in Twitches is a combination of the girls' powers, and Alex's spells.

  • Ileana and Karsh teleport to Earth from Coventry when the Darkness is chasing them.
  • Karsh tries to reunite the girls, as destiny commands, to make Alex come into the store where Cam is shopping, he creates 3 signs saying," HELP WANTED, NO EXPERIENCE NECCESSARY" and "WE'RE DESPERATE".
  • When the sisters first join hands, the environment around them slows down, and when they let go of each other, their environment is at its normal speed again, and they make the clothes on mannequins come off.
  • When Cam and Alex touched, Queen Miranda magically sensed that her daughters were alive, and together.
  • Cam wants to try magic again, and Cam wants to use magic to switch outfits with Alex. in an instant, Alex ends up wearing what Cam had on, and Cam was wearing her previous outfit. Alex,(a little annoyed), commands Cam to use their magic to get Alex in the clothes she was wearing before this spell. They do it.
  • Cam tries to do magic on her own, she opens a drawer.Then they magically make Camryn's drawer come completely out and nearly hit them on the head.
  • When the girls are in Cam's room, Cam tries to show Alex some scapbooks all about her, and her life. Cam politely asks Alex to look in Cam's 2nd closet, Ileana and Karsh made it a door into Coventry, where the girls discovered Alex's stories were really real.
  • When Alex and Cam are at Alex's house, (which is really her friend, Lucinda's, but Alex is living with her because her mother is dead) Karsh and Ileana appear and Ileana leans on Cam's porsche and the alarm goes off, Karsh uses magic to make it stop. The he looks thru magic spectacles to see that the Darkness is close, he tries to tell Ileana a plan, but Ileana decides to walk through a wall and tell the girls directly. Unfortunatley, the wall was REALLY thick. The girls left, before Ileana could get to them. When Ileana tells this to Karsh, he refuses to listen, she admits, "I went through some 70's wallpaper, that's gonna emotionally scar me for life!".
  • While Alex and Cam are going over Alex's journals, Alex explains about Coventry, who their parents were/are, what happened to them, and that their father, Aron gave his daughters every drop of power he had left before he died.
  • And during that scene Thantos, the girls uncle and stepfather, is spying on them through a universdity's sculpture of a cow.
  • "To make an object disappear, tap it twice and say 'oh dear'": causes an object to disappear.
  • "Because you're so loud, and rude, it's time to have some fun with food!": which causes a man's food to explode in his face.
  • "Pumpkins lacking style and grace, put a smile upon their face!": angry- and sad-faced pumpkins have happy faces.
  • Together, they freeze paint from spilling on them.
  • Then Karsh makes it liquid again and it falls all over him. Ileana only says,"it's a nice color on you, it really brings out your eyes".
  • Alex turns the rude fisherman outfits into dresses, the spell backfires on Karsh, who wears a gorilla suit and a dress. Ileana tries to unspell him,"Spell that made Karsh this way, take the monkey's--" but Karsh interupts her, mid-spell, saying,"I'm not a monkey, clearly yoyu can tell from the color of the fur." "Well, I'm not Jane Goodall", Ileana shoots back at him.
  • While the girls are practicing spells, Camryn magically creates an apple from the branch of a tree. And gives it to Alex.
  • Alex believes in herself and trusts her powers to magically open the door to Coventry.
  • In the castle, Miranda feels another prescence, and magically makes a statue come to life and say,"She's behind he pillar", to which Alex responds, "Thanks", the statue makes a shrug, and becomes stone again.
  • Karsh magiclly opens a door to Coventry at Camryn's party while the Darkness comes and tries to get her.
  • Together, the sisters use telekinesis to remove Thantos's gloves.
  • They combine their hands, and with speeches of love, they release a powerful light, destroying the darkness.

[edit] Errors

  • During the scene where Camryn is in her room after Ileana and Karsh are taken by the Darkness and her mom saved her, She crinkles up the burnt picture of Thantos and throws it on the floor and then goes through the portal, yet her birth mom (Miranda) has the picture and unfolds it with magic a few secenes later, even though Camryn didn't take it with her.
  • When Alex and Camryn come back from going to Coventry, and Alex just went back to Camryn's room, Camryn goes after her and the door shuts behind her. Yet when the scene changes, and it show's it from her room, Camryn shuts the door.
  • In the scene where Alex is in Camryn's room for the first time and while it shows her talking to Camryn and looking at the drawings while Camryn searches for her scrapbooks, the end of Alex's headband jumps over her left shoulder in between shots.
  • When Camryn's birthday party starts, the actress playing Camryn is actually Tia Mowry. If you look closely you can notice the differences in the face and body language (also, the mole on her face is missing).
  • After Miranda comes out of the Darkness, her amulet is missing. But then later she has it on again at Cam's house.
