From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
TWIC, abbreviated form of The Week in Chess, is an online weekly periodical written and organized by Mark Crowther. Its intent is simple, and its design more so. Publishing summaries of chess tournaments from around the world it also includes downloadable game scores in PGN (portable game notation) format. This allows players to keep up with chess news from around the world and ever changing chess theory for no fee. It has published over 580 issues and now includes its own service regarding chess theory.
TWIC stands for Transportation Worker Identification Credential (the United States of America). A TWIC is a secure identification card that is about the size of a credit card. This card will be used by transportation workers to access secure areas and information in transportation facilities. The TWIC verifies a transportation worker's identity by linking that person's claimed identity and background information to the person's stored physical characteristics.
