Twelve is a video game character from the Street Fighter fighting game series. Twelve is a mutant, part of the G-Project, a biological warfare operation run by a mysterious organization under the control of Gill.

Twelve appears in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and otherwise has few cameo appearances or related merchandise, which is unusual for a Street Fighter character. He does appear in the card game Epic Battles, most notably his character card and cards representing his X.N.D.L. and X.C.O.P.Y Super Arts. He also appears in SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash.

[edit] Story

With Necro being his prototype, Twelve is genetically engineered to regenerate, form other shapes (usually weapons) out of his body, copy a person's appearance and skill, and is meant to be incapable of being damaged. The "G-Project", the secret project that resulted in Twelve's birth, was executed by Dr. Kure, and overseen by Gill's brother, Urien. Twelve is ordered to retrieve Necro and Eiffie after the latter freed and helped Necro escape from Gill's organization. Twelve is also being mass produced by the organization to create an army of Twelve-like creatures. Twelve considers Urien to be his father because of his involvement with his creation.

[edit] Gameplay

Twelve has a very unusual fighting style, making him a very difficult character to control. Moreover, he does not have any significantly damaging combos or single hit attacks, forcing him to be played cunningly in order to constantly deliver tricky attacks without being countered. Twelve is considered by tournament players to be one of the most arduous characters to use.

Twelve is the only character with an airdash, which can alter the arcs of his jumps; however, he does not have a damaging combo in his normal form. He is particularly annoying because he can "crawl" on the floor, evading many ranged attacks like the Hadouken without having to block or parry. Twelve can also render himself invisible for a short time using his personal action, which can make his super moves or EX moves difficult to defend against.

[edit] Techniques

  • N.D.L. (Needle) - Twelve sticks his hands into the floor and flails them out in a spot indicated by the button you use (light punch is close to him, hard punch is far away). This can be used to snuff fireballs before they start. The EX version heatseeks the opponent and can be comboed into itself.
  • A.X.E. (Axe) - Twelve turns his hands into whips and flails them about himself. It's good anti-air opponents who parry, since they will end up having to parry multiple hits. The EX version does many hits and is activated quicker than the non-EX versions. This move can also be done in the air.
  • D.R.A. (Drop Attack) - A move that can only be done in the air, Twelve dives head first into the opponent at an angle decided by the strength of the button used. He can do this to add a third direction change to his jump (he can airdash twice in opposite directions). The EX version is very fast and knocks down.
  • Invisibility - Twelve's Personal Action (or taunt) makes him invisible for a short amount of time. He will also turn visible if he gets hit, blocks an attack, throws the opponent or does a Super Art. He will remain invisible if he breaks a throw or parries an attack, and doing EX moves will reveal your position. A Twelve XCOPY'ing Twelve cannot do this.
  • X.N.D.L. (Extra Needle) - Twelve's Super Art 1. It's a super form of the N.D.L. which attacks in a wave in front of him. The majority of Twelve players use this super, as it grants Twelve a damaging combo; however, it's not on the level of Yun or Chun-Li.
  • X.F.L.A.T. (Extra Flying Attack) - Twelve's Super Art 2. It's a super form of the D.R.A. which attacks the opponent multiple times from different angles if it connects. It's his most damaging super; however, it's difficult to connect with.
  • X.C.O.P.Y. (Extra Copy) - Twelve's Super Art 3. Twelve transforms into his opponent. While transformed, Twelve does more damage and takes less damage than his opponent; however, he cannot do any EX moves or supers. After the time limit expires, Twelve will return to his original form (slowly); during and after the revert, you will take noticeably more damage than normal. For those reasons, it is not often used. It is, however, the only way to play as Gill in the arcade version.

[edit] Communication

Aside from copying his opponents' quips and uttering "target" and "complete", Twelve is only capable of expressing himself in a binary code cypher (00001 = A, 00010 = B, etc). His victory speeches are:

  • 01011.01111 = "KO"
  • 01011.01001.01100.01100 = "Kill"
  • 10000.00001.01001.01110 = "Pain"
  • 00101.01101.00001.01111 = "EMAO"
  • 00100.00101.00001.10100.01000 = "Death"
  • 00101.11010.01010.01111.00010 = "EZ Job"
  • 00110.01001.01110.01001.10011.01000 = "Finish"
  • 10100.01000.00101.00101.01110.00100 = "The End"

[edit] Trivia

  • Twelve was loosely based on the character "Spehl-seijin" from "Ultra Seven", episode 12.
