- No, Frisian has an other official status in the Dutch province of Friesland; in this province, a big part of society is bilingual. Low Saxon and Limburgian are two minority languages in The Netherlands that did get an official status. These regional languages are accepted, however, they are not used by local authorities, different from the Frisian language, which can officially be used by local authorities to inform their inhabitants.
