Turtling (gaming)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Turtling in gaming is a fairly general term that can be applied to many different types of games, generally referring to the process of playing almost exclusively defense either as a stalling tactic or in the hopes that an opponent overreaches himself. In fighting games, for example, a "turtler" often constantly retreats, sticking out safe pokes and building meter while hoping an opponent makes a drastic mistake in an attempt to crack the defensive actions of the turtler. Turtling is generally considered an extremely lame tactic in most games by casual players, though most pro gamers understand the value and place for turtling and focused defensive actions.
