The Turaga na Gonesau is the chiefly title of the Paramount Chief of the Nakorotubu district in the Province of Ra in the western part of Viti Levu, one of Fiji's two main islands.
The name Gonesau means the "blessed child" as the first "Gonesau" was the youngest son of one of Fiji's high chiefs, Rokomautu from Verata (the first son of the High Chief Lutunasobasoba, who is traditionally believed to have led the first migration to Fiji).
Rokomautu gave his blessing or "sau" or manah to his youngest son to be powerful in war, in intellect, and in anything that he would undertake.
