Tuberous root

A tuberous root is a modified lateral root, enlarged to function as a storage organ. It is thus different in origin but similar in function and coarse appearance to a tuber. Examples of plants with notable roots include the sweet potato, cassava and Dahlia It has a long coil of root that lets of spores in the ground. After a period of time the new spores sprout into new flowers. These are called depitapods.
