Tsing Tak Tong Tat-more Temple

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tsing Tak Tong Tat-more Temple (清德堂達摩廟) is a temple in Tsing Yi Lutheran Village on Tsing Yi Island, Hong Kong. The temple worships Tat-more, Bodhidharma, whose native home was in ancient India. He was one of the ten disciples of Buddha. After Tat-more's death, his worshippers honoured him with the title Tat-more the Master (達摩祖師).

[edit] History

In the 1950s when the island had not yet been developed, some of his worshippers on the island, who were migrants from Haifeng and Lufeng, built the temple. Worshippers visit the Temple each year on Tat-more’s birthday on the 22nd day of 7th month in the Chinese calendar.

[edit] Transport

The temple is reachable by Chung Mei Road near Sheung Ko Tan Street.
