[edit] History

Trumbull High School was founded in 1961 following a population boom in the suburban town during the 1950s. The high school was originally situated at 4630 Madison Avenue, in the building currently serving as Madison Middle School. (Prior to 1961, all Trumbull public high school students attended the nearby Bridgeport Public Schools.) As the 1960s progressed, the town was compelled to commission a new high school plant to accommodate further population growth. In 1971 a new school plant was constructed at 72 Strobel Road, offering a then modern auditorium, a two story media center and complete athletic complex. Middlebrook Junior High School was converted to Middlebrook Elementary School and the Madison Avenue complex was converted to Madison Junior High School.

Until 1987, Trumbull High School served grades 10-12. Due to shifting demographics, Trumbull High moved to a grade 9-12 model for the 1987-1988 school year.

Recently, the Trumbull Board of Education commissioned an extensive renovation program for the school, including transformation of the auditorium into a full-fledged performance center, suitable for use by the whole town.

Trumbull High School's colors are black and gold. The mascot is the Golden Eagle.

[edit] Marching band

The Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band is annually ranked as one of the top high school marching bands in the Northeast, as evidenced by their success in many competitions around the nation. Since the 1970s, the band has competed in several competitive circuits, including EMBA, USSBA, and most recently the Musical Arts Conference (MAC). In 1983, the band marched in the Orange Bowl parade, and performed on field during the Orange Bowl (game) halftime show. The band also marched in the traditional parade at the Walt Disney World Resort on the same trip. In 2001, the band marched in the Presidential Inauguration Parade in Washington, D.C., representing the State of Connecticut. The band has also marched in many major New York City parades. On September 16, 2006, the Trumbull Eagles beat Norwalk High School in competition, something that had never before been achieved by the band. On November 11th 2006, the Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band once again beat Norwalk High School, this time in championship competition for the Class V banner which the Eagles took home.
