Truls Bratten (born May 29, 1976 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian accountant and NATO HQ squash champion. He is the current administrative assistant to the Norwegian Military Representative to NATO.

Contrary to popular belief Truls did not grow up in the affluent area of Hjellestad, but spent his early days in a suburban part of Bergen called Storevarden before moving to the rural Flesland area on the south Bergen coastline. Here he had a carefree childhood, sheltered from the harsh realities of life in Norway's second largest city, growing up to become a legend on the local wind surfing scene in the mid nineties.

[edit] Professional career

Truls first got his foot in at NATO in March 2002. Serving as a ULM for the Norwegian MILREP, he had to subdue himself to the iron fist of General Moltzau. Bratten’s well-known problem with authority almost cost him his chauffeur duties. The exact dispute is unknown, but according to rumors it was in relation to his appearance.

When his service was coming to an end, he had gotten used to the diplomatic life in the heart of Europe. He manage to transfer to accounting. Taking over the job from an incompetent BI student, Bratten's skills were highly appreciated. By the end of his service, he was still there. The post was temporary, but thanks to him hastily adapting into an accounting troll and the mysterious pregnancy of a permanent staff member, secured him the position years ahead.

[edit] Sport career

Growing up in maritime Flesland, Bratten took an early interest in sailing. Unfortunately, his juvenile attitude towards authority caused his sailing career to take an early end. After a controversial disqualification in the 1999 Snipe [1] Norwegian Championship, his sailing license was taken away. But, there was still wind in Bratten's sails, as he became a hero in the underground windsurfing scene along with the likes of Vidar and Orjan Jensen.

Being an outlaw in Norwegian waters, he headed for the south of France. As a student at the University of Toulouse(Université de Toulouse I) he spent his free-time surfing the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It was here he met his mentor, multisport professor Germain Ferrer. Ferrer noticed that the young Norwegian's wiry physics was as made for squash. And soon the wind stopped blowing in Bratten's hair, indulged in a world of economics, squash and pastis.

In 2002, he began his carrier in the NATO squash club where he is known as "the Flying Norwegian". Always wearing nice and fashionable outfits, he had some successes but also a lot of misfortunes with his Spanish, Hungarian, Greek and French partners. His flamboyant style has resulted in bootleg videos of his training and matches. The videos are characterised by rough music and flashy editing. Rough and flashy, just like his game-play.
