True Jesus Church in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The True Jesus Church is a nontrinitarian Christian denomination begun in China, growing out of the Pentecostal movement. Since it's foundation it has spread to other countries including Democratic Republic of Congo.

In 2002 the EJC began communicating with us by email. In June 2004 Bukavu which was 100km from Goma was occupied by rebel forces; On 16 July a volcano erupted 40 km from Goma, and by 20 July rumours of war caused many people to evacuate and panic. The EJC members wrote urgently to our church concerning the trouble and turmoil going on[1].

2004 - After more than a year of email contacting, the True Jesus Church decided to visit Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo after asking the statement: "Are you contacting us with financial expectations or purely for the Truth?". and they replied, "Purely for the truth!".

On 29 July, Our Brother Gin-Jia Zhang and a co-worker departed from Paris to Congo via Johannesburg. During the first encounter a church member said, "I have neither silver nor gold but what I have I will give you!". But their leader Banyanga ahouted to his congregation of 200, "We do not want silver or gold. We only hope that our guests bring us the Truth!"[2].

August 4-6 : Services were held at Goma where two hundred people from nine churches gathered in one location and listened to the sermons. Since their doctrines were very similar to that of the True Jesus Church most of the discussions were regarding baptism in which they were shocked that infants also needed to be baptised!.

August 7 - Three of the EJC ministers expressed their determination to be baptised by our church and during the first prayer, all three of them received the Holy Spirit.

August 9 - During another prayer with EJC workers, the Lord showed great visions of power, A great light shone and the fire of the Holy Spirit fell on each person's head. Wearing white, the Lord stood next to the minister who was laying hands on the EJC workers to help strengthen them.

August 10 - 154 people from 9 churches were baptised in Goma. A seminar was held the following day in which our basic beliefs were discussed in more detail. The name of their church was changed from EJC to "Veritable-Jesus-Eglise[3]. Meanwhile the believers who had returned home actively preached to other members and more people requested to be baptised so on August 14 106 people were baptised. On August 15 before the preachers left, the French version of "Our basic beliefs" was translated into the Swahili language (Note: The native language spoken by the locals is Kinyarwanda[4]).
