[edit] Prominent Parsis

Welcome to Wikipedia.

Please follow the pattern employed in the section on Prominent Parsis when adding to that list. Also, please keep the discription short. So, instead of the five lines on Jamsheed Marker, use a simple Jamsheed Marker - diplomat; UN Under-secretary General; ambassador to more countries than any other person in history. ie, what made him a person of note. The details would be in the article on him.

Similarly, * Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw - philanthropist; founder of the NED Engineering College (later NED University)the largest and oldest engineering institution in Karachi, Pakistan. should be reduced to Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw - philanthropist; founder of the NED Engineering College (later NED University). Where or how old NED College is, is not related to him. You could however rephrase it to say "founded the first engineering college in Karachi".

With respect to your desire to make the term Pakistan more prominent on that page (eg your rewrite of the entry for Byram Dinshawji Avari). That is entirely unnecessary. The article is on Parsis (irrespective of national affiliation). Because it is so obvious, it also looks bad.

Note that there are instances when such a distinction are necessary, for instance, Sohrab Kavasji Hormuzdyar Katrak ... awarded Pakistan's Sitara-e-Khidmat civilian award of distinction.. I hope you see that in this case the distinction is essential, but in (Pakistani) businessman it is not.

Be also aware that you (or rather the editor you are using) are dropping whitespace following separation characters (brackets, hyphens, commas etc). For example, note the lack of a whitespace in 'Ned University)Karachi,Pakistan'

Please leave a note on Talk:Parsi if you wish to discuss this further. - Fullstop 11:33, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
