Tropical Storm Grace
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The name Grace has been used for three tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean and nine tropical cyclones in the western Pacific Ocean.
It is used on the modern six-year lists, where it replaced Gloria:
- 1991's Hurricane Grace - passed 50 miles (80 km) south of Bermuda but caused no significant damage. It was, however, reborn into an unnamed hurricane (officially called Hurricane #8), nicknamed The Perfect Storm.
- 1997's Tropical Storm Grace - formed north of Hispaniola, threatened no land.
- 2003's Tropical Storm Grace - made landfall on Galveston Island, Texas, causing heavy rainfall but no significant damage.
The name was also used for nine tropical cyclones in the western Pacific:
- 1950's Typhoon Grace
- 1954's Typhoon Grace - affected Japan.
- 1958's Super Typhoon Grace
- 1961's Tropical Storm Grace (Japan Meteorological Agency analyzed it as a tropical depression, not as a tropical storm.)
- 1964's Tropical Storm Grace
- 1966's Tropical Storm Grace
- 1969's Typhoon Grace
- 1972's Tropical Storm Grace
- 1975's Tropical Storm Grace
There was at least one Southern Hemisphere system with this name:
- 1983-84's Cyclone Grace - caused some damage in Australia.
