Talk:Troy Donahue

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Currently Wikipedia has Troy listed under "gay actors," but Troy probably wasn't gay. A "People" article towards the end of his life said he did have sex with men during his maximum substance abuse phase, but that seemed to be more of a quid pro quo for shelter or food (at his lowest point he was living in a bush in Central Park). But he himself denied being gay, and even Henry Willson, his gay agent (sourced from the recent book "The Man Who Invented Rock Hudson"), said he was relieved that Troy was straight and that therefore Henry didn't have to expend energy hiding his gay goings-on as he did with Rock Hudson. As Troy said (again from "The Man Who Invented Rock Hudson"), he was often confused with that other startling good-looking blond actor and teen heartthrob from the '50's, Tab Hunter (also represented by Willson), who was and is definitely gay. The two actors routinely signed each other's autographs for fans who had mixed them up. It's possible those who think Troy was gay are confusing him with Tab.

Finally. A comment on a Talk Page about someone gay which is sensible, literate, and without prejudice. 66.108.144.49 01:56, 9 October 2006 (UTC) Allen Roth
