Hurricane Iniki over Hawaii

September 11, 1992 - Hurricane Iniki (pictured) hit the Hawaiian island of Kauai with winds of 140 mph (225 km/h). Iniki is the strongest and costliest hurricane to strike the state, causing $1.8 billion of damage.
