- March 1, 2000 - Tropical Storm Gloria (pictured) hit northern Madagascar and drifted south over the island. Gloria killed about 150 people.
- March 2, 2005 - Cyclone Percy (pictured) reached its peak with a central pressure of 900 hPa (mbar) near Palmerston Island, one of the Cook Islands.
- March 3, 1982 - Cyclone Isaac (pictured) hit Tonga, killing 6 people and making 45,000 homeless.
- March 4, 1990 - Cyclone Vincent reached its peak with a central pressure of 966 hPa (mbar) off the northwestern tip of Western Australia.
- March 5, 2006 - Tropical Storm Diwa (pictured) reached its peak strength with winds of 110 km/h (70 mph) in the open Indian Ocean.
- March 6, 2000 - Cyclone Steve (pictured) reached its peak with a central pressure of 975 hPa (mbar) just before it made its third landfall in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Steve caused over $100 million of damage in Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia.
- March 7, 2004 - Cyclone Gafilo (pictured) hit Madagascar near Antalaha near its peak strength. Gafilo killed over 250 people on the island.
- March 8, 2003 - Cyclone Kalunde (pictured) reached its peak in the central Indian Ocean with winds of 260 km/h (160 mph).
- March 9, 1985 - Cyclone Lindsay reached its peak strength as a Category 4 cyclone in the Timor Sea before making landfall near Broome, Western Australia.
- March 10, 1899 - Cyclone Mahina hit Bathurst Bay in northern Queensland as a Category 5 cyclone killing over 400 people. A storm surge of 14.6 m (48 feet) was recorded by an eyewitness, the highest storm surge ever recorded.
- March 11, 1996 - Cyclone Kirsty reached its peak strength shortly before it made landfall near Port Hedland, Western Australia.
- March 12, 2005 - Cyclone Ingrid (pictured) reached its peak with winds of 250 km/h (155 mph) near the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Ingrid killed 5 people off the southern coast of Papua New Guinea.
- March 13, 2003 - Cyclone Erica reached its peak with 240 km/h (150 mph), just before it brushed the southwestern coast of New Caledonia. Erica killed 2 people on the island and caused significant damage there.
- March 14, 1994 - Cyclone Litanne reached its peak with 240 km/h (150 mph) winds. Litanne struck the eastern coast of Madagascar the next day.
- March 15, 1889 - The 1889 Apia cyclone passed over Apia, Samoa wrecking 6 naval ships moored there, killing at least 147 American and German sailors.
- March 16, 1981 - Cyclone Max reached its peak strength with a central pressure of 960 hPa (mbar). Max had earlier passed directly over Darwin, the first cyclone to affect the city since Cyclone Tracy.
- March 17, 1999 - Cyclone Elaine reached its peak with winds of 185 km/h (115 mph) in the Indian Ocean, before the storm hit Moora, Western Australia causing mass evacuations.
- March 18, 2005 - Cyclone Hennie passed to the east of Mauritius, causing over 200 mm (7.9 inches) of rain on the island.
- March 19, 1982 - Tropical Storm Mamie reached its peak with 110 km/h (70 mph) just before it hit the Philippines. Mamie killed over 40 on Mindanao.
- March 20, 2006 - Cyclone Larry (pictured) hit the Queensland coast near Innisfail as a Category 5 cyclone. Larry caused about $1 billion of damage.
- March 21, 2004 - Cyclone Fay (pictured) reached its peak with winds of 220 km/h (140 mph) off the Western Australia coast, which it hit a few days later.
- March 22, 1999 - Cyclone Vance (pictured) produced a measured wind gust of 267 km/h (166 mph) at Learmonth, Western Australia, the highest wind speed ever recorded in Australia. Vance caused over $100 million of damage.
- March 23, 1984 - Cyclone Kathy hit near Borroloola, Northern Territory as a Category 5 cyclone, causing $12 million of damage.
- March 24, 1994 - Cyclone Nadia hit Mozambique after passing over northernmost Madagascar. Nadia killed over 200 and made over one million people homeless.
- March 25, 1991 - Cyclone Errol reached its peak strength in the open Indian Ocean with winds of 205 km/h (125 mph).
- March 26, 1935 - A tropical cyclone struck land near Broome, Western Australia and killed 141 people.
- March 27, 1977 - Tropical Storm Patsy reached its peak with 95 km/h (60 mph) winds in the open Pacific.
- March 28, 2004 - Cyclone Catarina (pictured) hit southern Brazil, becoming the only known tropical cyclone to hit the country.
- March 29, 1989 - Cyclone Ned reached its peak with 185 km/h (115 mph) winds off the Western Australian coast.
- March 30, 2006 - Cyclone Glenda (pictured) made landfall as a Category 3 cyclone near Onslow, Western Australia. Glenda brought heavy rain to the area.
- March 31, 1999 - Cyclone Frederic-Evrina (pictured) reached its peak strength in the central Indian Ocean with winds of 260 km/h (160 mph).
