- December 14, 1999 - Cyclone John (pictured) strengthened to a Category 5 cyclone, before crossing the Pilbara region of Western Australia coast between Karratha and Port Hedland, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to the region.
- December 13, 1956 - Typhoon Polly made landfall in the Philippines, killing 79 and causing $2.5 million in damage.
- December 12, 1984 - Cyclone Emma hit the Western Australia coast as a Category 1 cyclone.
- December 11, 1998 - Cyclone Thelma made landfall in the Kimberley region of Western Australia as a Category 3 cyclone. Thelma brought heavy rain to much of the region.
- December 10, 1949 - The Typhoon of December 1949 reached its peak with winds of 155 km/h (100 mph) off the Philippine coast.
