[edit] Praise
You did an excellent job rewriting the Rollie Free article; I touched it up a bit more, and then moved it into the place of the original. Good work. DS 22:09, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

good job with the edits *thumbs up* Drmagic 00:40, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for reverting Elton John vandalism
Thanks! You beat me to it, always nice to see a few new faces in that area. Every little bit helps. Luna Santin 10:43, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- After so much effort has been put into the page, it such a shame some need to show their own limitations. I'm not gay, but he is a great performer! Thanks - Rgds, - Trident13 10:46, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] advertising in royal enfield
On the Royal Enfield page, the section Royal Enfield Customs looks like thinly disguised advertising? I noticed the spam adverising interest, and don't know procedure for ads, so, could you check it out and act on it, if appropriate?Seasalt 09:48, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- I would agree! There are some rules and guidelines re external links here at Wiki, but basically it can be summarised as a link to the subject of the article (ie - in a Bio the Bio's subject; in the case of a place or thing the same) AND OPTIONALLY anything that adds more information to a reader of the article, which is (normally) non-commercial. The problem (from a personal perspective) is that applying the rules by the letter of the guidelines excludes some real knowledgable enthusiasts/fans - see the Elton John page or many of the Ducati pages, particularly the Ducati Paso which is input directly by their club secretary. Some enthusiasts write to show their knowledge and publish their site - there is a link to a Brazilian fansite on the Elton John site which adds little direct value, but the guy added greatly to the article. In the case of motorcycle articles, I think there is a case for adding commercial websites IF they add technical details - there is an example on the Enfield page, where a link is commercial but the owner has said where to find the additional information. I would rationalise as follows:
- You've got me a bit confused there. Was the section Royal_Enfield#Royal_Enfield_Customs that links to commercial site http://www.royalenfieldusa.com/ in "Sources", written by someone who has contributed a lot to the article? How does that connect with external links?Seasalt 09:09, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry! In my haste, just looked at external links - that section is too biased/commercial. I will look at a complete review in the next few days. Rgds, - Trident13 09:12, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kirtley
I don't dispute that a good article may be possible about Kirtley, but it would need to include sources and be written in a more encyclopaedic tone. Guy 10:43, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Be nice to newbies
I'm not sure why I should have added any welcoming template when this person doesn't have a User Name. I've never seen any IP addresses with these templates before. Thanks. NcSchu 21:07, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Adrian Farrel
Can you please help with finding right category? He is a England scientist not USA. But I am not able to find right category for him. Thanking you in anticipation. --- ابراهيم 14:34, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ibrahim - thank you for your message, I hope this finds you well! The article looks very good now, and I have categorised it as far as I can as both a British Engineer and Scientist, as well as stubbing in both categories. If you have any other questions on this or other parts of Wiki, please just ask. Rgds, - Trident13 18:29, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Reesor Furniture Company
I am nw at wikipedia. I am making the entry and trying to conform to what I understood was the criteria required. The relevance of the entry is it discusses some of the most influencial and gifted furniture makers in the country and all is verified by the Gettysburg historical society. It also is from one of the historically significant areas of the united states. They are also a great example of entrepreneurship of the times. Help me out don't know what you're looking for. placed by Tekkiefirst
- I hope this finds you well - here's some thoughts. Firstly, if you think the article is that important, I am happy to help you create an article. However, I did a quick search on Google, and it didn't come up in the first five pages - perhaps the listing is wrong? I have created a personal stub page on your own user page, and given it some basic format. This is a good way of developing pages for articles for entry to Wikipedia, before they are published on the main encyclopedia. If you edit that page and place the text you had in your original page there, I am happy to help you develop a suitable article. Let me know when you have placed the etx, and we'll go from there. Best Rgds, - Trident13 19:06, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Have inserted the text - as much of it as I could find. Mike Gaboury 00:56, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Crosby-on-Eden
Hi I have tidied up the Crosby on Eden article and added a little bit of info though I do not know the village very well if indeed at all. But just want to say I have never heard of Carlisle Airport (which is really regarded locally as a bit of a joke and white elephant) as being called Lake District Airport
- Thanx - much better! And as a Private Pilot, I can confirm that Carlisle Airport is currently both horrible, as well as a joke - in many, many aspects, not least the landing fee's. Mind you, the free tea is pretty good - and it needs to be! Rgds, - Trident13 18:16, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Great Job
Keep up the good work with nominating spamn and crap articles for deltion on new page patrol! I left you a barnstar on your main page, you can do with it what you please. Keep up the good work. Chris Kreider 17:02, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Glad to see you put my awards templates to good use! Chris Kreider 03:07, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- You dont need to do that! That was not the point of the comment. I just found it a little bit funny. The reality is, most everything anybody has gotten was in some way, shape or form from someone else! I was just suprised to see that somebody had used something I did. I dont really care at all that you used it. Chris Kreider 03:23, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanx!
Thanks much for your encouragement. I'm definitely learning as I go, so I'll definitely be wokring to improve. Thanks for your help. I will try to stick with a few simple entries until I have a better hang of everything, but I hope to make some more serious entries later. Danopolis
Dear Trident, I tried to punch up the notability factor on the Mobilization: The International Quarterly Review of Social Movement Research entry by emphasizing its position in the hierarchy of sociology journals. I added sources and categorized it. With respect to precedent, the entry seems as or more complete than others in the sociology journal categories and is a far more significant journal than most of those listed there. If this doesn't get me there, please advise. Thanks!

Sorry it says you are part of the "Welcoming Committee" still you brush my work off as junk, commenting at 00:15 ("what the blow is this rubbish? another one jumped the fence clyde....)". I do not believe this is very welcoming. It is obvious that I have only just joined Wikipedia and I am a total beginner.
ok, thanks!
o thanks, so that is the kind of information I should use
[edit] Provisible
When you removed the PROD tag from this article, were you contesting the proposed removal? Joyous! | Talk 03:14, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- No - not at all! I dab'd it with a speedy delete tag as part of the new pages patrol, and the originaor of the article removed the tag. Rgds, - Trident13 09:51, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vespa links
- I agree with your assessment of the situation regarding the links section of the Vespa article. I have that article on my watch list, so I'll keep my eye on it. Spylab 13:23, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Addition of http://saccharinist.blogspot.com to various articles
I have not left irrelevant links on Wikipedia, who are you to judge that? All of my links were completely relevant and not vandalism. Just because you don't agree with the content of my links does not allow you to edit them out. You should have more respect for contributors. added by Mishkoti
- Have you read the wikipedia guidelines at WP:Links? Can I suggest you do this first before complaining about my or other editors removal of multiple links to the same website which you have added, which add no additional value to articles. You added three links alone in one edit to the Borat article on the revision as of 13:08 at 15 November 2006, to one website. Rgds, - Trident13 20:47, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- All of my links, including the one for Zahra Amir Ebrahimi and the ones for Borat offer new information which your entries do not include. You even lifted one of the Saccharinist's links and put it on the Ebrahimi page so you've proven yourself that the Saccharinist had much to offer to that entry. The Borat links clearly substantiate criticisms of Borat the character and Cohen the actor which are legitimate and worthwhile. You even left a comment for the Saccharinist, so again you prove the interest value and relevance of those links. If you are unwilling to post links that you do not like, then please refer me to an editor that is less biased. Thank you.added by Mishkoti
-
- I don't know what you are refereing to. I have not added any links to the articles to which your refer, where you have added your blog SPAM link http://saccharinist.blogspot.com. Please read WP:Links and stop adding this link which fails wikipedia's guidelines, and which I and other editors will resultantly continue removing. Rgds, - Trident13 18:29, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Carnivals
Hiya, just looking at your work on the West Country Carnivals article... I wondered if you are involved in the carnivals in any way as I'm a member of Globe carnival club. Excellent article by the way! - Ben
- Wish I was Sir! Just Somerset born, my father was in banking so we moved every 2.5years up and down the A38. My grand parents lived for a long while in North Petherton, while my parents now live in Burnham on Sea - hence the pictures. Carnival is something truly unique and special to the West, and I'd like to think it would get more national/international coverage to raise more money. Rgds, - Trident13 17:05, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- It always surprises me that it doesn't get more coverage. I find that it's very rare that anyone outside of Somerset knows anything about them. Notting Hill carnival seems to get a lot more attention though. I'm involved in moving the Globe cart from carnival to carnival and whenever we cross a bridge over the M5 in daylight I always wonder what the people driving below must think about the strange-looking vehicle above! - Ben 13:09, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- Just for your note - the anon editor User:86.138.144.151 keeps shoving the link somersetcarnivals.co.uk in on both WCC and Bridgwater. I don't really have a problem with his link, but under wiki rules it is a bit too commercial/does it provide additional information above what's already there? He keeps shoving it in at the top of each links section, and I have reverted him on three occasions - I'd like to keep the article intact versus his website. As long as its below the official site/bbc links (it should never be on the Bridgwater article) I won't revert/remove. Rgds, - Trident13 10:03, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- I put the Somerset Carnivals link on the WCC article because from what I've seen this site has a very good searchable archive of video and pictures and also a very active carnival forum that I've not seen anywhere else. I don't know the people who run the website but from what I've seen they seem to be very geared towards building a community of people interested in carnival. I have to say that I don't think it's commercial in any way. But I agree with you that it doesn't really deserve a place in a Bridgwater article. - Ben 11:15, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Commando
Very good read. Well sourced and keeps to a NPOV. I didn't know much about this particular motorcycle, but I feel I walked away with a good understanding of what role it played and the impact it had as far as the history of motorcycles goes. A couple of red links in the article, but I have a feeling you might be working on a couple of those also. Other than that, I don't see any reason why the article can't become a main page right away. Very nice job. Roguegeek (talk) 06:18, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was checking it out when a speedy deletion notice came up. In the short time checking "phraseology" found only one phrase I would change: "Right from the beginning the Commando took part in racing events" to something like "From the very beginning of production the Norton Commando appeared in racing events." A string that long matching source text should be avoided (methinks). There are many ways to say the same thing. Comparing previous paras to sources gave rise to no crit. You seem to have the idea. Don't think I've ever seen a guide to reconstructing material, so its just my opinion. I'll read the rest when I see it up. (I've been dealing with crit for insufficient source quoting, which meant going over pages I'd done to cite sources more fully. Fair enough.)Seasalt 12:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
